Estate Planning

Estate planning is more than just planning on what to do with your stuff when you are gone. For families with young children, a will or trust designates the guardians and conservators of your underage children in the event of your death or incapacitation. Not having these documents can create significant difficulties for your extended family and your children at an already difficult time. It is also important to decide what you want to happen if you become incapacitated to ensure that this burden will not be placed on your family and your doctors. Both the Will and Trust Packages include a Minnesota Short Form Power of Attorney, which designates a person of your choosing to act in your place on financial matters. It also includes a Health Care Directive, which states what you want the doctors to do if you become incapacitated and designates someone to act on your behalf for medical decisions. "Simple" wills and trusts are those that involve limited assets (such as your primary dwelling) and an estate valued at less than $3,000,000 (due to Minnesota estate taxes). We can work together to establish a fair fee for complex or high valued estates.
